With the digital revival of Fucking Åmål recently, the updated version of the film was screened at Bio Victor, Filmhuset in Stockholm yesterday night. The event was sold out and photos have started to appear online.
Following the film there was a discussion with Alexandra Dahlström, Rebecka Liljeberg and film producer Lars Jönsson. They discussed the film, the Guldbagges and the film’s significance today.
One video has popped up on Instagram of Alexandra & Rebecka signing autographs for fans.
There is a video on Youtube from the Göteborg Film Festival of the opening night festivities. There was an icebreaker event called Min Nya Vän or My New Friend which paired up attendees with someone they may not know in order to make a new friend. Alexandra Dahlström was paired with a young woman named Ana Alcana at the event. Here is a very brief snippet from the Min Nya Vän event. You can see Alexandra and Ana at the 1:13 mark.
Back in March I had written about Alexandra’s involvement in a short film called Bussresan. It has since been released and is available to view online until May 1st. It is a 14-minute animated short directed by Sarah Gampel. Alexandra Dahlström is the voice of the main character Sarah. It’s mostly in English with some Swedish and French subtitles throughout.
Alexandra Dahlström has a page on the Giants & Toys website. She posted the link on her Instagram page recently. There are some commercials, music videos and trailers for her films. It’s definitely worth a look!
Utvecklingssamtal (aka Headway) is now available on Vimeo with English subtitles. It is a short film by Jens Jonsson. Alexandra is not on screen but you can hear her voice. She plays the voice of the main character’s daughter. You can read a little bit more about the film here.
Zoégas is a coffee product in Sweden which posted this video on August 10th called “Coffee By Women” which was directed by Alexandra Dahlström and filmed by Petrus Sjövik in Kenya.
“Lazima upandishe Sauti ili uskiike” means we must raise our voices to be heard. We at Zoegas together with artist Alicios Theluji translated and recorded the classic Swedish song into Swahili. We believe that people who work with coffee should feel good about working with coffee. We believe that people should have meaningful lives, good lives, and create a good future for the country. Through “Coffee by Women”, we encourage more women to study and work with coffee growing, taking up more space. Obviously along with boys and men. The more the better. Through our song and film, we want to show Kenya as we see it when we visit the country, even outside of the coffee plantation. Strong girls and boys who confidently look to the future. In coffee growing but also other activities. Together.
If you follow Alexandra on Instagram you can see all sorts of photos she posted during production of this video.
If you follow Alexandra on Instagram you may already know that she was directing a music video for the Swedish band Teddybears called Shades On.
Alexandra has made the music video available on her Vimeo page recently.
There’s a cameo near the end of Helena af Sandeberg (Alexandra’s Blondie co-star) which was a nice surprise! I did not see Alexandra in the video but it’s a good watch and the song is very upbeat and catchy.
The Actors In Scandinavia resume page for Alexandra Dahlström went offline a couple months ago which was disappointing as that was kind of the only “official” website we had for her. However, Alexandra recently updated her Instagram and included a link to her own website which includes her work. It also includes a really nice “About” page which is worth reading as it was written by Alexandra herself!
Alexandra has made her Vimeo account public and you can currently watch 4 of her films (Lacrimosa, Kom Hit, Because the Night & The Audition (which features Julia Gahne)) plus a clip for what I believe is Fågel Fenix.
I’m super happy because Because the Night is subtitled in English and I’ve been searching for English subtitles since it was released!
